It has been a busy couple of weeks everyone. Not only am I getting ready to go to Australia in a week (I have decided to do a 3 day/3 night yacht cruise around the Great Barrier Reef this year before heading down for the race on the Gold Coast), but I also bought a new truck… Quite an experience buying the truck, trying to do everything from Dallas so that I could fly in Sunday morning, sign the papers and fly back Sunday afternoon. BTW, you can do all the pre-work in the world, but it is still a 4 hour experience, 2 hours just filling in the paperwork.
I have had 6 weeks off between races and I think I STILL managed to be on an airplane every other week for the last 6 weeks (I ‘guess’ that is better than being on an airplane EVERY week?)
Sadness, I was hoping to fly into New York to see my friends closing night at the end of the month, I was even going to bite the bullet and fly back from Australia on Monday and fly out to New York on Friday late evening (arriving early Saturday morning) so I could catch closing night. But, I would have no time at all with my friends there since the after-party is a private Halloween party at someone’s house. So, no Chocolate martini’s nor good conversation and no kick-ass shoes to wear just for the occasion. Flying in to see a 2 hour play and no time at all with friends just makes it a $400 play ticket and I love my friends writing and I am sure I will love my other friends directing and even the acting, but I think I will stay home and recover from jet-lag instead.
So, I got a friend a Nano as a gift and I thought ‘oh, I think I will get it engraved for them’. Sigh, let me tell you that I DO NOT recommend this. The engraving is done in CHINA and then shipped out from there. So, everyone, if you want it to arrive on a certain date DON’T order it online and get it engraved.
I was all excited that I was rolling off the project at the end of the year and sleeping for 2 months. But, I have just been extended all the way till the end of the project (end of March/Beginning of April), yay on money, boo on no sleep.
So, that is the round up to date… Hopefully in Australia I will have some time to finish my latest story and maybe write something new. Oh! Reminder! Need to buy some new travel writing books.
